There are four main ways you can advertise your site, they are, by email, by banner, by text and by signature. All four, if done right, can be very effective. Although it will be a little while before you are ready advertise, you can gain valuable knowledge that will help with running effective and successful advertising as you surf the web. As I have mentioned before, the key to being successful in this aspect of Internet-Earning is to look at everything you come across and think "Is there anything that I am looking at, I could use myself, either now or in the future". If you see something that catches your attention then it is a success for the person that created it. If it is a success for them, could it be a success for you? Could you change certain aspects of it to adapt it into something you could use? If you are looking at something that you feel is of a very poor quality, examine why its poor quality, remember the reasons and make sure you don't use those aspects your self. There is a saying that knowledge is power, start building your power/knowledge base as soon as you can.
A good advertising campaign will be something that is attention catching, pleasant on the eye - nothing messy or complicated and enticing. So bearing that in mind, lets explore those different methods of advertising now.
Email advertising
You will have the freedom to use a bit of detail with this type of ad. A curt one line phrase does not work so well here, by the same token a long advert will instantly mean that advert is going to be ignored. If the ad is to long, they will stop or not even start reading it and just click the link. If they do that then you are relying on your landing page catching their attention before they ignore that as well. If that does not make the benefits of staying at, and reading, your site, then that potential customer is lost before they have seen the product or service you are selling or offering. Unfortunately people are lazy readers, if it is not clear what benefits reading a piece of advertising offers, straight away, there is a high chance they will dismiss it instantly. So what's the best way to advertise by email? Make the beginning of the advert attention grabbing, make them want to read the rest of the ad. Now you have their attention give them a reason to visit your site. Arouse their curiosity. Curiosity is a very powerful tool that you can use, people are willing to spend a lot more time investigating something if they are curious, but if they are bored they will dismiss it instantly. Lets look at an example of an email advert;

Notice the use of just one question and the lack of a question mark with it, questions mean having to think. People can be lazy, how many times have you felt, or heard somebody else say "questions, questions, questions - I can't be bothered with it, it's too much!" That's the type of reaction you want to avoid. So try and get their interest with as few questions as possible. Now that first question (that isn't really a question!!) gets there attention, it was delivered in a short sharp manor to provoke that initial curiosity. That's the first aim achieved. Now we have to entice them to into the site whilst still keeping them curious. It does that by giving just a hint of the additional information they can find, and finally we end it on a polite note.
Now this is a trick I came across whilst doing some research. Notice how I said "Thank you for your visit", not "Please have a look" or "Feel free to have a look around". We can't force anybody to visit the site, but if given them the possibility of looking at your site, you rune the risk of that invitation or request being rejected. So put them in the mind set that they "are going to visit", that way you have removed the possible rejection. The thought process has been altered from "Do I want to visit this site" to "That's nice he's thanked me for my visit" So we have removed the choice from their mind. This can be further explained by the two phrases, "If you purchase object x ....." you should always phrase it "When you buy object x..." It is a form of thought conditioning that can be used to great effect.
The next important thing is the use of upper-case letters and explanation marks. Do not use either whenever possible. They are both interpreted as shouting by the reader. Yes you need to be direct in some cases but never to the "in your face" extreme. This is another thing that could result in the instant dismissal of your advert.
Finally, don't make it four pages long, people will not even attempt to read something if they see it requires more than a quick glance.
So you can see it's attention grabbing, it's inviting, it's subtle and it's short. If you can try and follow this basic principles, you will drastically increase the chances that your advert will get the attention you want it to get.
Banner advertising
Many of the above principles apply, with one noticeable exception, your banner will not be the main aspect of the web page it's displayed on. So it will have to be "loud" in order to attract the attention of the reader, at a point when their attention is focused on a different area of the web page. For this reason use a flashing banner, as opposed to a static one, set it up to have multiple lines of text, but make each "flash" of the banner display a different piece of text. So you can still display all the information above, just make each line appear in turn. Now I appreciate you may not know anything about banners, let alone making one yourself, so do not worry. When you have your site set up, and your ready to run your first set of advertising just come back to me, and I will make you a banner free of charge. Because the price of flashing text banners through my site is $2.50 please state in the email that you are ordering your banner as part of the offer included in this course. I will then know not to send you a bill!!. So whenever you're ready send an email with "Course Banner" in the subject line HERE, include in this email, the address of your site so I can color co-ordinate your banner with it, and the text you would like to include within the banner.
Text advertising
These type of ads are normally displayed in Paid To Click sites, don't worry we will cover PTC sites later, and they are normally only one or two lines long. So you need to think of a short phrase to use with this type of ad. It needs to arouse the readers curiosity and get them interested in the site they are about visit. You can also use the thought conditioning process here, so try and use something like;

"Internet-Earners.com, promoting the good - exposing the bad, Thank you for your visit"

We have made it clear which site they are about to visit, we have tried to arouse their curiosity with the catch phrase, and the thought conditioning aspect was used at the end.
Signature advertising
Their are two aspect to signature advertising, they are - email and forums/social networking sites. Both can be very effective if done in the right way. This type of ad also needs to be short but attention grabbing, so the same principles that apply to text adverts, apply to signature advertising.
