Registering Your Personal Details
|
When you sign up to programs and sites, the owners will want to make
sure that you are there to earn honestly and not trying to cheat the
site/program and its advertisers. They all do this by a variety of
methods, some are common methods used by a number of sites and programs
and others use their own methods unique to that particular site or
program as well. Because of this, all sites will require your name,
address and payment processor details. That is why you should have
spent the time preparing for this by maximizing your personal and
computers security. None of that will matter though, if you give your
personal details out too readily, and, without taking measures
necessary to ensure that you are confident that they will protect your
privacy and not pass on sensitive data to third parties without your
permission. So we now come to the next step of researching and joining
the sites and programs that are right for you.

| What To Look For |
Your first group of sites and programs should be ones that are,
established, trusted by many, have a proven history of prompt payment,
are friendly, approachable, helpful, respected and will allow you to
earn in a manor that’s fun and friendly. Well now we will start you
earning, but there are numerous methods to earn money and all have
there own positives and negatives. Once you start to earn money you
will be doing this (primarily at first) by reading adverts in emails
and then visiting the site being advertised. This is part of the Get
Paid To… industry that’s called Get Paid To Read, or more commonly
known as PTR or Paid To Read. You should start off with this method as
it will then lead you to other methods of earning within the GPT
industry.

| What PTR Involves |
PTR involves sites and programs sending you emails with an advert
inside it. You will open the mail, read the advert and then click the
link in the mail to visit the website of the product or service being
advertised. On arrival at the site, a timer will start and after a
predetermined number of seconds, you will receive your payment. This
payment will vary from (these values are just examples and each site
will attach and have different values to different mails) 0.01cents
(one hundredth of a cent) to 1cent per website visited. The timer is
there to give the site time to load and you a chance to read and look
at the site. When the timer has finished you will see a message stating
you have been credited, at this point you are free to close that window
or tab providing you have read and looked at the site or product
advertised.
This may seem like a small amount of money that you are receiving
as payment for reading the advert, and it is, but after a while you
will want to sign up with more sites and therefore, reading more
adverts earning more money. This should only be done in stages though,
because if you take to much work on to quickly you will not be
maximizing your productivity, therefore ultimately, losing money in the
long run. There are also other factors and methods that will increase
your earning power with these sites and I will cover those in detail
later on. |

|
| How Many Sites Should You Join? |
I recommend joining no more than 5 or 6 sites to begin with as this
could give you anything from 50 to 300 emails a day to read. Once you
have completed all the stages of the course you will be able to judge
how much time you may have available for joining additional sites.
It is important that your read each and every mail that you open with
due care and attention to the product or service being advertised. Some
people will sign up to a site or program, open as many emails in many
different tabs/windows as possible in one go, wait for the timers to
expire and then close all tabs/windows without looking at or read
about, the product /site/service being advertised. Please remember that
this is called Paid To Read and not Paid To Not
Read. You signed up and selected areas of interest in which you would
like to receive adverts about. You are not expected to
subscribe/purchase every product you see an advert for, but what you
are expected to do, is give each advert the due attention it requires.
This industry is dependant on (amongst other things) honest members
giving advertisers the due diligence that they have paid for in
purchasing and sending the advert to you.

OK, when you have read the rest of this stage, click on the links
I have provided in the GPT section of the site HERE to pick your first group of sites. These sites are ideal to begin with as they are
established paying sites that also offer other earning opportunities,
which we will go into later. First of all, you will be taken to a
screen that will ask you to enter the email address you wish to join
with and receive mails to. In the bottom left corner of your browser
you will see the Noscript symbol, (this is one of the add-ons I
recommended you use in the stage concerning security issues) this will
be a red circle and line around and through a blue “S”. This means that
it is stopping this site from interacting with your computer without
your permission.
You will need to give each site permission to interact with your computer when you first visit it by doing the following, REMEMBER TO ONLY ALLOW SITES THAT YOU CAN TRUST,
never allow anything permission, if it is not what you expected to see,
and in some instances you will see more than one script wanting to
interact with your computer. Even with trusted sites there may also be
other scripts being prevented, these are normally advertising scripts
run by companies like Google for example. Click the Noscript logo, find
the name of the site/program from the pop-up menu and click allow XXX,
(XXX will be substituted by the name of the site/program). This will
then allow this site to run the necessary scripts to allow it to
interact with your computer and browser.
Enter your Gmail address in the box, then click submit. You will then
will then see a massage saying “A sign up link has been sent to that
address” or something similar. Close that screen go to your Gmail inbox
and you will see an email from the site titled “Sign up URL” or
something similar.
Open that mail and click on the link, this will take you to the
sign up page for that program. Here you will need to enter your Name,
Username, then select from the drop down menu labelled “send email to”
or something similar, your address and contact details, then select the
make the selections in the “Areas Of Interest” section, confirm your
payment method, enter your payment details, enter a password, confirm
your password and then click the register or submit tab. You will see a
box with “Referred By” and then the username Longshanks or
Longshanks1971, this is my user name and I will explain this later.
This process is fairly self explanatory but there are some points that
you need to be aware of. |

|
| The Sign Up Form |
Name and address
If you have done your research properly then entering your name and
address should be OK as you have already made sure that you can trust
this site and owner.
User name
This should be different from your own name and its your choice as to
whether you use the same user name for all of your sites or a different
one for each site.
Send emails to
As you are now using Gmail, all email should be delivered to your email
address. The drop down menu will give you three options (normally);
Site inbox - These means the adverts will not be
delivered to your email address and you will have to go to that site in
order to read the paid mails. This a longer process and it could reduce
your productivity rates, depending on the speed of that particular
site.
Email Address And Inbox - This means that they will be
sent to both your Email Address and your inbox at the site. This should
be selected if you suspect you are not receiving all of the mails, you
can compare the number in the inbox to the number in your email
addresses inbox to see if there is more in one than the other,
indicating that some mails may be bouncing back. This is not normally a
worry with Gmail so there is no need to choose that option until or if,
you suspect a problem
Email Address - This is the one you need to select and the mails will shortly start to arrive in your Gmail inbox.
Referred By. In this box you will see my user
name and it will be either Longshanks or Longshanks1971. Please leave
that in the box as this will mean I will earn a percentage of your
earnings on top of what I earn at the site already. This will not
affect or reduce the amount you can earn. This is one of the ways that
you will also be able to increase your earnings, but we will go over
that later.
Select Categories Of Interest
This is where you will see the first of the measures taken to ensure
only honest members are joining the program or site. You need to check
all the boxes that apply to you and for which you wish to receive paid
mails about. Take care to read the options carefully. If you see boxes
that state messages similar to the following:
Delete my account, Donate my earnings, I cheat, I can’t read English, etc
and you check these boxes you will lose all your earnings and your
account. These are there to prevent people who can’t read and
understand English from joining, because you will obviously need to be
able to read and understand English, in order to be able to read and
understand the adverts.
If you see I am Male, I am Female, and you
select the wrong one or both, again you could loose your earnings and
account, as this could also means that you are trying to cheat, either
by trying to get as many mails as possible - for both men and women, or
a cheat bot is trying to register an account, or again, you cannot
understand English because you cannot differentiate between the words
male and female.
Age range boxes, again check only the one that is appropriate for you, because of the reasons mentioned before.
PayPal Premium or Business, or Mass Pay - Not
all sites do this but members that have a premium or business PayPal
account will have to pay a fee on all payments made to them. Some
programs will pay these members via something called Mass Pay, this
means they will not be subjected to fees on their payments, so select
this option if you have a premium or business PayPal account. Sometimes
these options will also appear on the “Select Payment Method” drop down
menu, again select the appropriate one.
You will also see check boxes for different types of advertising
- Internet, Cars, Home and garden etc. You need to check the boxes of
the categories that you wish to see advertising about. This enables the
sites advertisers to target their advertising to interested parties /
members.
You may also see the options;
Search mail - Only select this if you are from one
of the “search countries” . If you select this option and you are not
from the appropriate countries you risk losing your account and/or
earnings. Search countries are normally; Australia,
Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece,
Iceland, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Spain,
Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom and United States.
Although this can vary with each site so always check first and leave
blank until you have checked to see if you are eligible. Search mails
enable you to look or search for something on the Internet via a
specified search engine. These are smaller than the conventional search
engines such as Google, MSN, Ask.com etc but are not always as
effective at finding sites relevant to the subject you are searching
for. This does vary from engine to engine though, and some of them can
be effective.
Point Mail - These are paid mails but they
carry a point value as opposed to a cash value. These can be good as
you can use points to purchase advertising, exchange for cash, or in a
few sites, gain access to a “reward area” when you have accumulated a
certain point balance. Some people (like me) like point mails and use
them to redeem for advertising, whilst others do not, so make your
choice and either opt-in by checking the box or opt-out by leaving the
box blank. As you will shortly be purchasing your own advertising
(don't worry, we will not do this until you understand it, again we
will cover this later) I suggest opting in for point mails as you can
often get good value advertising using your points balance.
PTP Mail - This is another area of the GPT
industry called Get Paid To Promote, or Paid To Promote also known by
the abbreviation of PTP. These mails are sent by other members that
will carry advertising for the site which operates that particular PTP
page, this is the site that the mails are attached to and are not sent
or controlled by, the site that you receive them from. These types of
mails will be lower in value and contain a page that will have quite a
few adverts rotating within them. This is where the security aspect
that we covered earlier is particularly relevant. A lot of the pages
will contain ads rotating in them from a third party advertiser. This
means that the owner and provider of that PTP advert does not always
have full control of the scripts, content and coding contained within
those adverts. For this reason, it sometimes occurs that these pages
may contain adult advertising and/or dangerous content (spyware malware
viruses etc). Having said that they can sometimes contain very
interesting adverts. If a program has a certain activity requirement
for membership, or the ability to use the PTP feature yourself,
(meaning you need to view a certain number of ads) you may need to
opt-in for these mails. Having said that, normal adverts and
respectable sites can also be infected or hacked so PC security is a
high priority for all aspects of Internet-Earning.
If there is any option available to check or select and you do not
understand what it means, then leave it blank and check with owner of
the site. A responsible site owner will always be happy to help you
whenever you have difficulty in understanding the registration process.
Never check something that you do not understand as this could result
in suspension or loss of your account and earnings. |

| Organizing the PTR sites |
When you are happy that you have completed the registration form and
have selected all the aspects you wish to receive advertising on, click
“submit” or “register”. You will then receive an email containing your
log in details which will be your user-name and/or email address and
your password in order to log-in to the site. The URL (website address
you are given in the mail) needs to be bookmarked. This will allow to
have quick access to it when you wish to check your balance or enter
other sections of the site. So to do this;
First of all open a new tab or browser window
When that has loaded, click "Organize Bookmarks"
A new window will open, click the "New Bookmark" tab
In the name box enter Paid To Read and click "OK"
You will then see a new folder appear with the name Paid To Read.
Close that window as you have now finished with it
Go back to the email containing your log-in details
Click on the URL in the mail to be taken to the log-in page of the site.
When that page has loaded - Click Bookmarks at the top of your browser
Click "Bookmark This Page" and you will see;

Except the name box will have the name of the site you have just opened in it.
There is drop-down menu with another, separate little tab next to it,
click that little tab and another drop-down menu will appear
Click the "Paid to read" folder we have just created and it is now stored.
Instead of typing in the URL every time you wish to visit the site,
just click your bookmarks tab at the top of the browser, hover the
cursor over the paid to read folder, a side menu will appear, you can
either then click the name of the site you wish to visit or, at the
very bottom of the side menu, you will see "open all in tabs", just
click that and it will automatically open all sites within that folder,
each one in their own separate tab. This is particularly useful if you
want to check your account stats at your paid to read sites during your
monthly check. (this is explained below)

Tracking your earnings
|
|
You will then need to track your earnings and payout requests along
with the relevant log-in details. You can do this in one of two ways.
You can either, create a spreadsheet or use the traditional pen and
paper method for each site. You will need to put your log-in details on
it, along with the minimum payout threshold. You will also need columns
to enter current earnings, date of payout request, down-line statistics
(I will cover this in detail later) and one for the date payment was
received. People track their earnings and payout requests in different
ways, but if you are unsure of what to do and when, I recommend
starting off doing the following;
At a specific date every month (ie: the first of every month), log into
your programs in turn. On your spreadsheet or page for that site
(whichever method you have used);
Enter the date, your current earnings balance, the number of people in
your down-line (remember, I will explain this later), and if
appropriate your payment request. Do this at the same time every month
and if you have requested a payout, when you receive it, return to the
spreadsheet or page and enter the date the payment was received.
I have found that this method strikes the right balance between earning
and tracking important figures like, payment dates, average wait after
requesting payment to receiving the payment, how fast your down-line is
growing, and generally getting an idea of what you can earn from each
program and the speed of which you can earn it. This will be useful as
sometimes you may want to replace slower earning sites with faster
earning sites. If you do not know how to create your own spreadsheets,
you can use those that are attached to your Gmail account. Simply click
on "Documents" from your Gmail main Page in the top left hand corner of
the screen, just above your inbox.

How To Research Additional Sites
|
Unfortunately not all programs in the GPT
world have the intention of paying their members. Some will not only
avoid payment but they will also sell your personal information. There
are a number of things you can do to reduce this risk, time
spent in research is a lot less than the time spent working away at a
site only
to find you wont be getting what you have earned, they are;
Check the blacklists that the various forums
list programs on and search on the internet with the name of the
program and scam in the same search box, as this is the popular turn of
phrase used by members that haven't been paid by a program, that search
should bring up some of the complaints made by members/former members
if there are any to be found. Search the forums for good and negative
posts regarding the site that you are thinking of joining.
The Whois Database, this lists the
details of the person or company that has bought/registered the domain
name of the site in question. This is a very useful tool.
Of course there are programs that go
along happily paying members and running the site well but for one
reason or another it runs into difficulties and disappears. Whilst this
is a sad occurrence for both the owner and members, this is what forums
are particularly good for as people will start to post as soon as they
see anything amiss. Remember, fore-warned is fore-armed. |
